6 more judges for Kerala High Court

P. Ubaid, A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar, Anil K.Narendran, Abraham Mathew, Mohammed Mushtaq, and Alexander Thomas

The Kerala High Court appears set for getting six more new judges.

The Supreme Court collegium is understood to have cleared the names of two senior sessions court judges and four High Court lawyers as High Court judges.

The sessions court judges to be elevated are Ernakulum Principal Sessions Judge P. Ubaid and Thodupuzha Sessions Judge Abraham Mathew.

The High Court lawyers are senior advocates A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar, Anil K.Narendran, Alexander Thomas, and Mohammed Mushtaq. The process of appointment would take almost a month, according to reliable legal sources. The two judicial officers entered the service in 1988. Advocate Anil K. Narendran is the son of the late Justice K.K. Narendran while Jayasankaran Nambiar is the son of Justice K.A. Nair, former judge of the Kerala High Court. Jayasankaran is also the partner of leading law firm Menon and Pai Associates. Advocate Mushtaq is the partner of M.K. Associates. Alexander Thomas is the standing counsel of the Indian Medical Council.

The strength of the judges of the High Court will be 36 when the new six judges are appointed and sworn in.
