Wi-Fi network in Kerala University

The University of Kerala has commissioned a high-speed Wi-Fi Internet network for its campuses at Palayam and Karyavattom.

The move that will benefit hundreds of students, teachers, researchers, and administrative personnel.

With a 1-GB bandwidth, this 24x7 network can be accessed through a hundred access points on the varsity campuses. Access would be free.

Research scholars could access this network free of charge for the tenure of their research. Nearly one lakh people could simultaneously use this network, which had robust security features.

The main beneficiaries of this facility would be teachers and research scholars. All the administrative departments, including the examination and academic wings, would also be linked to each other through this network.

The wireless network had been so envisaged as to be utilised for the conduct of seminars, symposiums, and science congresses.

The command and control facility for the network had been set up at the Kerala University Computer Centre.
